Phew....it's been a long day. Driving down to Brisbane, battling through the traffic and countless roadworks to get to the airport....pick Little One up.....he's at that age where public displays of affection are cringe-worthy.....so a smile and a quick, rather stiff hug was all I got lol. (Don't worry, he's made up for it since we got home!) Then a brief stop to have a late lunch with an old friend before heading back home. Jed was full of news of his adventure up north, and he had a great time with his Dad and big brother.....which makes me smile. It's as it should be......
I'd really like to say thanks for the lovely comments and emails I've received since I re-entered the world of blogging. It's heartwarming to have the thoughts and support of so many. A big "mwah"......xx
Now that I'm back in the swing of things, it's time to make a few announcements.
Candlelight Creations is in the midst of a make-over!! Much has changed for me, so I decided that CC needs some changes too. So along with the release of new patterns, over the coming months just about everything will be re-vamped....logo, jacket cover, catalogue and even some patterns.
I'm also spreading my wings somewhat in the design area. In the past I've created designs with a predominately old world look. But I have a wide range of tastes myself, and (just like my new home) I want my body of work to become a little more ecclectic. So.......my catalogue of patterns will be basically split into three catergories - Antique, Vintage and Modern/Funk. There will no doubt be some overlaps within the three areas, but each will be my own interpretations rather than strictly adhering to an era or style. It's too involved to explain, but I guess you'll just have to see what I mean as I go along this path! It's going to take time to get all this happening, but I hope that within six months the new look Candlelight Creations will be complete.....fingers crossed!!
I realised that to produce patterns regularly, I couldn't do it all, so - a little reluctantly - I've let go of part of the sample making and found some women to do the stitchery elements for me. I'm thrilled to have two ladies stitching for me as I write....Perri and Robyn both do beautiful work. And even more exciting is that I just received an email from Perri telling me she's completed her stitchery....only a few days after receiving it in the mail!!!
This is the traced and coloured piece I sent to her......
Anyone who knows my work, may recognise Teatime Treats here. Yes....it's having a face-lift (mmmmm....there are days I wish I could have one of those too....lol). The fabrics around it are from the gorgeous Ava Rose range, and that's about all I'm telling for now!! When the pattern is released, there will be some giveaways, so stay tuned......
The Writers Compendium I've spoken of has had a name change already. I was never happy with the name, so it's going to be called Pen to Paper, and I'm just loving the new fabrics I'm using for this sample. The stitchery element is in Robyn's hands right now. Again, I coloured the fabric with pencil....it gives a nice depth I think. Originally I got my paints out to work with both of these projects, but changed to pencils as it's a medium that is so much easier for anyone to replicate.
You'll have to bear with me while I roam the minefield that is this blog!! There are so many things I'd like to do and change, but I just haven't managed to work out the "how to" part. My friends Cheryl and Sharon are going to come over to show me a few tricks, in between coffee, cake and laughs lol. We just have to pin down a date....always a difficult thing with our busy lives.
I'll be back in a few days with some pics of my new little unit, as requested.
Till then, happy days....
Ciao for now
Leanne xx

Hey Leanne! It was great to catch up a bit at the Stitchers Dream Day Out and also great to discover you're back in blogland!! It sounds like you've got lots of exciting things on the go at the moment - how wonderful that you've come out of hibernation with such energy and creativity! You know what they say - we need to go through the 'valleys' cos that's where all the fertiliser washes to! Tee! Hee! Hee! And it seems to me that from that 'valley experience', your life in general and your creativity are BLOOMING like roses!! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)
